During the works we choreograph the machine concert: cuts borrow short of the fill, haul routes keep public roads clean, and compaction rolls chase the grader in a defined pass pattern rather than a hopeful loop. We sample the finished formation to specification, and rejects never slip past because a test certificate is filed before the top layer receives a blessing.
Where formation touches existing roads we manage the cold joint risk between new settlement and old carriageway. Geotextile, stone and any imported fill are tracked by batch, and the boundary between cut and fill is cored at the end of the shift. Drainage and Utility Trenching
Open cuts within a live road are where most coordination failures begin, so we treat each trench as a self-contained mini project. The trenching cell books the excavation permit, marks the survey ground plan, and lays out shoring and crossing sequence before a bucket bites. Depth and invert checks are entered against the record drawings with photographs at every pass line.
Buried services are the highest-stakes risk on the board. We run dial-before-dig clearances, warn the workforce of adjacent ducts, and protect every live cable with sand surround or timber shield until cover is restored. Reinstatement is not an afterthought: backfill is placed and compacted in specified lifts, and the surface mat is only closed once the trench has settled to a certified finish.
Public disruption from trenching is cut by bundling reinstatement across a street in a single drag so the road is not dug again the following fortnight for the neighbour service. Our cell keeps a rolling restoration list and targets each road for one visit, one break of the surface and one certified reinstatement.

Road Resurfacing Logistics
Asphalt waits for nobody. Road resurfacing logistics synchronises the arrival of hotmix with an open mat, a throttled paver and rollers that are warm and waiting. Our logistics desk holds a live feed from the asphalt plant, plans truck runs against tonnage and distance, and spaces deliveries so the paver never starves and no driver queues at the kerb.
On the night the laydown cells read mat temperature at the screed, watch for cold joints, and direct roller passes to chase compaction while the mix is still workable. Joints between passes receive an extra pass while warm to avoid the feather edge that later frets. The full mat is cored and logged before the road is reopened, and any reject bay is noted for the planned patch programme.
Because a reopened road is judged in the morning light, our finish cell sweeps loose chippings, returns the ironwork to flush and hands the surface over with a written condition report. The client receives before and after levels, a compaction record and a measure of ride quality that stands up to whoever inspects the job first.

Traffic Management Planning
A safe closure is a legible closure. Traffic management planning begins with a walk of the site at the operating hour, counting pedestrian desire lines, positioning bus stops, ambulance access and school crossings before a single cone is speced. From those observations we draw the sign schedule, the taper length and the position of arrow boards that motorists read before they commit.
Diversion routes are chosen for capacity, not convenience. We model the detour distance and the expected delay, then publish a single agreed diversion so at no point does a driver meet two conflicting arrows. Temporary works signs are placed and photographed at installation, and the marshal walks the taper each hour to confirm nothing has been knocked over or turned to face the wrong way.
Access for residents, refuse collection and emergency services is engineered into the plan rather than patched on later. Every plan document sets out who may cross the closure, at what time and under whose escort, and the night marshal logs every negotiated crossing. The public is told exactly when the road reopens and the promise is kept to the printed minute.

Plant and Fleet Telemetry
Plant telemetry turns the night from guesswork into a set of read numbers. Every paver, roller, excavator and site truck in our fleet feeds the yard manager a live pulse of location, engine hours, fuel burn, geofence exits and duty cycle. When a machine crosses into the works zone we know it is there; when it idles past its useful shift we know a flag is due.
The control cell uses that feed to commit machines to a night window only when they are fit and fuelled. If a unit reports a fault code overnight, the yard has the replacement rolling before the window opens instead of learning at the laydown line. Fuel consumption is reconciled against the measured plan area, exposing waste and guiding the next tender price long before the bill lands.
Client estates pull the same live data into their own systems, giving a shared view of machine time on their carriageway. Mileage, emissions and operating hours are itemised on every monthly report so the cost of keeping a road is visible, auditable and defensible to whoever wears the budget.
